I try to connect to a FTP site over SSL and get a message:
LIST
425 Can't open data connection.
The site is a linux site, another strange issue is the MACB command,
what's that for?

many thanks for any suggestions

If the server can't open data connection it is possible your firewall
permits the access to your machine. Try change some options in
the firewall or change connection mode (passive/active) in Captain
FTP.
MACB is for servers which support MacBinary transfer - if a server
replies with an error to the command - the MacBinary is disabled.
