Captain FTP gets new interface, file viewer, more
MacCentral, 29 Sep 2003
By Dennis Sellers

Xnet Communications has updated Captain FTP, the 3.0, which includes a completely new metal-themed interface Apple's object-oriented development environment.

Captain FTP tasks are shared between separate threads to prevent intensive functions such as uploading and downloading from overconsuming your operating system's resources. In addition to the revamped interface, version 3.0 offers a new file viewer and file finder, a rebuilt address book with a Safari-like editable toolbar, and enhanced support for such editors as BBEdit, Hydra and others.

Captain FTP costs US$25 to register. For those who have bought the product since Aug. 15, version 3.0 is a free update. Other registered users can upgrade to the new version for $15 until Nov. 1. The FTP client requires Mac OS X and, according to Xnet, is compatible "with almost every FTP server available."
